Being aggressive, I think, is absolutely essential to being a good grappler. It's just like how I was taught in wrestling; aggressiveness breaks you opponent mentally and puts him on the defense rather than you. More importantly, however, is that you stay relaxed while being aggressive. I know it sounds counterintuitive but it is possible and highly efficient. He takes a bad shot, I punish him for it by sprawling and dragging around to the back mount. I get the back mount, I crossface the shit out of him until I get the RNC in. I get into his guard, I'm constantly grinding my elbows into his thighs trying to push him off. By the end of the match, I want him to think "Man, I don't ever wanna face him again." so when we do face each other again, the match is essentially won before it has even begun.

Que? haha. I actually have that fear with one of the guys at the school. Before we even roll I'm afraid he's gonna hurt me on purpose like he has before. Except it feels like more of a fight where I can't see myself grinding a teammates face on purpose and trying to hurt them. Bad for me and them.
