Being aggressive, I think, is absolutely essential to being a good grappler. It's just like how I was taught in wrestling; aggressiveness breaks you opponent mentally and puts him on the defense rather than you. More importantly, however, is that you stay relaxed while being aggressive. I know it sounds counterintuitive but it is possible and highly efficient. He takes a bad shot, I punish him for it by sprawling and dragging around to the back mount. I get the back mount, I crossface the shit out of him until I get the RNC in. I get into his guard, I'm constantly grinding my elbows into his thighs trying to push him off. By the end of the match, I want him to think "Man, I don't ever wanna face him again." so when we do face each other again, the match is essentially won before it has even begun.
