I think your goal is attainable. The last two times I went to watch amateur MMA events in a neighboring town I was asked if I wanted to fight. !!!! I was basically friends of the friend of the guy running the events. Both times they had a couple fighters who's opponents didn't show up, and my buddies were going around asking people with some martial arts in their background if they wanted to fight. Now dude, I'm 40 and have never boxed a day in my life. But I could have gotten in the ring if I wanted to, easy.
Now check this out. I
could have fought this guy if I had accepted the spur of the moment offer:

Go down his list of fights and find Robert Briggs at NOC-Night of Champions. Briggs was one of the guys in the audience who was asked if he wanted to fight and agreed. He went to watch an event and ended up in the ring. He looked white as a sheet but he put in a round against a UFC fighter (corner threw the towel in before the second round).
Now my point is not to clog up your log (sorry), but to encourage you to not forget about this goal of yours, and to realize that it might be closer than you think...
