i find that my knee does not because i do not roll onto the ball of my foot when i do them. I think your issue would be counter balance, try it while holding a wieght in front of yourself untill you can do it without relying on it. Just focus on preforming it more like a squat. when i do it my butt actualy tuches the ground not my calf.
i used to be crap at squat form untill i did them light with 100 reps every day for a week. havn't had a form problem since.
