Age doesn't matter. It means nothing.
I am in just as good shape as most of the 24 year olds. On the off days, I run, lift weights and stretch. For my size, I am as strong or stronger as the 20 somethings and I am so flexible I can just about do the splits.
When I loose to someone my size, it is because the younger guys Jiu Jitsu is better. Period.
I am sore some mornings after class. But, that happened too when I was in my 20's. I consider the age thing to be the biggest myth on the planet. It is just an excuse.

There are some things that I can't do now that I could do 20 years ago (I'm 42). But these young guys don't know what that is.

I am considered one of the strong guys who does the smashing. Over the last couple of years I have been relying on my technique as opposed to my strength.
Diet, rest, and recovery play a more important role now.
Old guy, don't tell these young guys our secret. We need to sandbag them once and a while...
