It might sound cheesey but the best thing Ive seen help alot of overwight people get in shape is handball. if you can find people to play with. this will help your hand eye cordination, footwork and cardio all in one game. You'll start out geting gased halfway through a game and before you know it you will be puting in 2 or 3 hour hand ball sessions. hand ball isn't the only sport but it seems to be a good one for people that are out of shape. Basket ball and soccer is alot of running for someone who is really out of shape and takes a little more athleatisism than hand ball. and softball isn't really enuff exercise to keep the heart rate up.
