The problem with rankings is that they are theoretical and hypothetical, as fighters from the UFC won't be fighting people from the Japanese promotions. BJ hasn't fought Aoki, Hansen, Calvancante, Alvarez, Florian etc., so how can we know that he's better than them? Same thing with GSP not fighting Alves, Shields or Condit, Silva not fighting Okami, Mousasi, Robbie Lawlor, or Sonnen, Evans not fighting Jardine, Rampage, Machida, or Silva, Fedor not having fought Arlovski (yet), Barnett, Mir, Couture, Lesnar
Rankings really don't mean all that much when you consider what they can't measure and how circumstantial the measurements are.
