Keep in mind that at this time he still had his aura or invincibility about him and he was tearing up the competition.
Aside from Wamrage and a few other diehards no one had anything much to say about Wanderlei Silva, and when a thread did start up it was filled with shit about him fighting cans and using enhancers.
I think that he got more love from the Sherdog posters after he was bested in the OWGP.
From then on he seemed to struggle and gain a huge fan base..
