All Roach knows is pure boxing. Roach is right that Fedor's striking isn't textbook boxing, but it isn't supposed to be. It's different, but I think he's wrong about it being "predictable" and full of holes or whatever it was he said. If it was, i'm sure somebody would have exploited that by now. It's just different from what Roach teaches.
For instance, Fedor throws every single strike he throws with bad intentions, and he doesn't bother throwing jabs or feeling anyone out or anything, which will obviously cause a boxing enthusiast to find problems with him.
The point is, Fedor doesn't have good textbook boxing because he doesn't try to. He's not a boxer. He has a ridiculously aggressive, powerful striking game that he uses to overwhelm his opponents. It's every bit as effective (if not more so) than typical boxing in MMA, but Roach doesn't know anything about MMA.
