Any little thing that could possibly sway the judges in your favour, no matter how minor those actions may seem, is necessary.
Plus, if it's between rounds, it's a bit of a Psych job on your opponent, too. I remember wrestling in highschool, and our coach always told us that no matter how tired we were, when the ref wanted to re-start things in the middle, we'd better get to that spot before our opponent. It makes it seem like a) you're not tired, b) you're not hurt and most importantly c) you're not afraid.
