19.32

With people saying that Usain Bolt has a chance break Michael Johnson's record of 19.32 for the 200M I though it was time to remember just how impressive 19.32 for 200 meters is.

That works out to 9.66 for each 100 meters, or faster than anyone's ever done the 100 meters, including Usain Bolt, and Michael Johnson did this over twice the distance and through a turn. After taking 10.12 seconds for the first hundred he blazed the next hundred in 9.2 seconds.

Usain took it easy while setting his mark of 9.69 in the 100 but he is going to have to work to get close to 19.32, his personal best in the 200 so far is 19.67.

The most incredible part of Johnson's record is that it was set in 1996. Race records seem to fall every year, this one has lasted 12. I still don't see it falling yet but I'd love to see Usain take a shot at it.
