I have two pair and I have been working on rubber guard stuff a lot. I have noticed a bunch of occassions where the traction has helped lock the arm in place. I notice it more with oma-platas than straight armbars though.

I wish they had made them in closed seam though since the splits sometimes allow the grrip panels to not be where you need them.

Overall I would definitely recommnend the shorts.
