I don't disagree with some of your points (e.g., Chutebox methodoly is not what it was and Shogun's main legacy of training is from there) but the only "excuse" really is Shogun's injury. Even if his game could be improved in some ways, none of those factors had to do with the loss to Forrest. And the main question about Shogun's future is whether he can get past the injury.

Saying that Forrest's technique for MMA is ahead of Shogun's is dumb. Calling his cardio better than Shogun's is questionable at best and only based on that one fight whereas Shogun has shown monstrous cardio in the past.

But Forrest is big and that helps.
