Here I'd like to mention who else is helping me and update my log concerning who I am currently working with and also mention my current goals:
In this mass of confusion that is my log I have mentioned my teachers and trainers and places that are helpful to my training.
Like many I started out in the TMA's Judo, Tang So Do, etc. and though I don't train these too much anymore they are important factors in my development and fighting style: my kicks are pretty good and I don't get completelyrun over by wrestlers and good Judo guys.
probably the biggest two things that led me to train and pursue MMA and Grappling is Capoeira (specifically my only Capoeira teacher who I do not train with at the moment, Mestre Cleber) and My good friend and forum mod Liu aka King Kabuki (he was the one who helped me appreciate "the sweet science" and has continued to motivate me to get better not to mention he has an excellent log that would motivate anyone to pursue professional fight training)
Sherdog and the community here are also great tools to pursuing this lifestyle.
I also work for a great place (the Seminole Tribe of Florida) and here I have made a friend who helps put together my strength and condition work and keeps my overall progress in mind, Travis Osceola from the Seminole's gym and recreation department. He has helped my stamina improve greatly.
AT Marcelo's School I have been taught and coached by a great group of teachers: when I started it was a Brown belt named Adrew who is back training with us. He helped with conditioning and reaction drills a lot! then a black belt Name Josh who had excellent teaching skills and loved teaching "advanced stuff" to anyone LOL, and then Leo and John who are both awesome teachers and coaches they have helped a lot of students better understand BJJ and especially Marcelos style/game and I would trust them to corner me anytime, and the owner of the place Mike who has always looked out for his members and been extreemly fair and runs a great place...
My friend and Owner of Hollywood MMA, Kanudu, who helps me train the "kicking and boxing" aspects of my game and to keep me in touch with capoeira.
Marcelo himself is a great teacher and he really gives off a professional energy and takes teaching and coaching as seriously as he does his own training. He is also a pretty down to earth person and will roll with anyone who needs help or who just needs to feel what it feels to "step up" the pressure. I am very happy to be his student and with that here are some new goals:
-continue getting better (obviously)
-I want to learn from Marcelo's game to not only represent him but to add what I am capable of attacking with. I like how he teaches to always attack and kinda thinks like a boxer in that he teaches us to do combo submissions and/or transitions. he doesn't teach settling in to a position or holding on tight too often and actually pressures us to not stop moving in rolling and would rather we go all out and lose in rolling then to hold and settle and stall and make dominance or get a submsion by waiting. I really relate to this style much better in that I like to always pressure and keep moving but before I just didn't have the tools to really get effective at it like he is. So now I want to absorb that more then anything.
-working with Travis I wanna be able to carry my strength and endurance throuought any competition and be able to turn it on more and more as the rounds progress. He has told me this is his goal in my work and sets up my sessions with getting stronger and always finishing the main goals for me.
-work with Kanudu to become a volume puncher and kicker and be able to carry as much gas as needed for any given fight.
and there we have it where I am at mentally so far.
