Yes, that was me. I've posted a lot in this thread so I don't remember if that was in here or somewhere else, but I did say that to someone who claimed that they put him to sleep or something along those lines.

You think AWAKENINGS is the saddest movie ever, and it very well might be. FIREFLIES is evocative and poignant, and swims much deeper than what one would characterize as a cartoon. While Japanese cinema has turned to shit compared to what it was with Kurosawa, et al, their Anime is often amazing to behold. Such feats of imagination.
I can appreciate the imagination and the creativity of the stories, but I just don't care for the fact that there are no actors, no cinematography, no art/set/costume design, etc. There's just drawings and computer work and voice-acting. It's one thing to work in different genres, but the differences between live-action and animated films are just so large that it's almost two different art forms to me.

I feel like I'm being robbed of a full movie when I watch animated things, and while if I were given the choice I would gladly get rid of that feeling, I can't help it.

I read more about the film and I saw that there was a live-action version done. Was that any good?

More animated films, more no's.
