Tourney Results:
I placed second in the 205lb division. They combined all the skill levels in my weight, because there weren't enough competitiors. It was round robin, and I rolled 5 matches. I had 3 wins, 1 Draw, and 1 Loss. 2 Opponents got injured and dropped out before I could roll them. Scoring was 3 points for a sub, 1 for a draw, and total points were added up after all matches to determine the winner. It was a pretty cool format and helped limit people just holding position and not working to submit.
Absolute division matches took place in the cage. I had 1 Win, 1 Draw, and 2 Losses. However, I was controlling my last match, and was close to getting a draw, but as I went to pass guard, my opponent blocked me with his arm and popped one of my ribs out of place, so I had to pull out of the tourney with only 2 matches to go. It's happened before, and this time isn't as bad as the others, but I'm definitely hurting a bit right now. I think dehydration played a roll. I cut 5 lbs, which isn't much, but my first match was only about 15min after I weighed in, and it was HOT at the gym. I was sweating faster than I could rehydrate. In my first match, my calves cramped up hard, and they're still killing me.
Anyway, it was a blast, and I'm pretty hapy with my performance. I have all my matches on video, and I've already identified some things I want to work on and improve. I'm definitely a better grappler now than I was this morning.
