I had a similar experience once. I saw a guy straight up smack the girl he was with (I'm assuming it was his girlfriend) and I started after the guy but stopped to see if anyone was going to help... but no one did. I think I was in a Blockbuster when that happened. Anyhoo, I just grabbed the guy from behind and jerked him away and then management kicked us both out. I thought I was going to have to fight him outside but he just stormed into his car and took off. The girl came out and didn't seem thankful or anything almost as if I'd made the situation worse. Far from losing sleep over the ordeal I decided that even if I was interfering with their affairs, they made it public when that shit happened in front of me. It was weird though that I hesitated for a moment thinking that someone else would take care of it.
