A long time ago I used to do NFL picks for someone and they would always try to convince me what a great deal this 3 bet parlay was. I tried to explain it to him but he kept telling me --- 'but they pay 5:1'. I'm like dude, you're picking 3 teams who's odds, when MULTIPLIED equal 8:1 --- that's like getting taken for 37% of your money. Didn't matter --- he still wanted to do it.

People who make blanket statements about any one time of bet are stupid. I made money on a Penn/Machida parlay over the weekend. Penn was -250 and Machida was -200. Just because your friend is a fucking idiot and makes the wrong choices doesn't mean everyone else does. There are numerous times where a parlay is smarter than a straight bet especially in MMA where odds are usually heavy on the favorite. If you want to make serious money and don't want to just get lucky betting on a dog you need to parlay sometimes in MMA. This is an example betting 1800 on Machida/Penn made you 2000 but betting 900 on each separately wouldn't have even have made you 1000 which wouldn't even be worth the risk.
