I did some Aikido back in the day. Its fun and has a deeeep spiritual side to it (like a lot of the black belts and beyond treated the art almost like a religion and some became Buddhists kind of deep). Lets just say its a TMA that doesnt work in the street at all but has great health/body/mind benefits to it as well as trippy stuff (after 6 months of training I was literally more "attuned" to certain things and developed a kind of spidey sense. no joke. but Its not there as much. guess you have to continue that style practice for that benefit).
BTW- Seagal achieved the highest ranked, 7th Dan, of any non-Japanese Aikidoist(?) in the world. Only native Japanese ppl could reach that rank but he was given that rank as the officials deemed him to have a Japanese soul.His technique is highly aggressive when its taught throughout Aikido to be the opposite. However, Seagals Aikido translated very well for action films.
