BJ Penn got a black belt in 2 years. BJ Penn is obviously very gifted but David Haye is a freak athletically. In terms of athleticism he'd be one of the most athletic LHW/HW in MMA.

If mediocre boxers like Chris Lytle, Alessio Sakara, Marcus Davis and Jeremy Williams (above average boxer) can succeed in MMA and accumulate fantastic records im sure a much, much superior athlete can as well.
