figured i'd throw a few suggestions. anyone who's interested check out some of larry clark's work he was a photographer in the late 60's early 70's then started directing in the 90's. he's directed kids, another day in paradise, bully and ken park which hasn't had a release in the u.s. theatrically or on dvd due to it's content but you can find it easily on ebay. his stuff isn't for every taste definitely love it or hate it but i enjoy his work.
also check out harmony korine, he wrote the above mentioned kids and ken park and has directed gummo and julien donkey boy, both are very dark and fucked up, he was also using copious amounts of drugs when making these films. he's now sobered up and his new film mr. lonely is out at smaller theatres now.
david croneneberg also has alot of great stuff, videodrome, naked lunch, existenz, shivers, dead ringers lot's of sci-fi and body horror type stuff.
