With that Arlovski article, it says he could fight his 3 fights wherever he sees fit. How does this help Affliction if he doesn't fight on an Affliction card? It seems like a stupid business deal to me. I really hope UFC pays the man his money, but I'm confused about Afflictions business model here.
I also don't blame UFC for non-exclusives either. You think the Patriots want Brady to go play Canadian football and get hurt?

Affliction, like FEG and other companies are going to non-exclusive deals. Boxing is the same way. The only thing is, you have to fight X amount of fights under your contract. I imagine it's tied to some sort of time limit - afterall, what sense would it make if you sign Fedor to a fight contract, FEG or M-1 comes in and he fights back and forth with both organizations for the next 3 years only. That wouldn't make a lot of sense.
There is no such thing as a guaranteed contract anyhow. If the UFC doesn't like how you've performed, they can pretty much cut you at any time.
