This thread is a blast from the past. It's interesting to see how Chris Moriarty was a brown belt who was winning tournaments back in 2006. Fast forward to today and he's still a brown belt who just recently lost to Kron Gracie in the finals at Pan Ams. What does this guy have to do to get his black belt?

As for inverted guard, I treat it as a part of my open guard game (not one of my primary weapons). I resort to it when the guy's on the verge of passing, when escaping from north south, and when playing spider guard (but I lose one of my grips).

Gsoares2: I'm having trouble picturing how you initiate your inverted guard. You have the bicep hook and you use your other hand to cup the guy's elbow? Could you describe that in a little more detail? Thanks.
