JJ works fine in a streetfight assuming it's actually a one on one fight where nobody jumps in and assuming the guy you're fighting doesn't know what the hell you're doing. I know those are big assumptions when it comes to a streetfight, but I choked a guy out cold pretty easily with a rnc (I pushed him against the side of the building and had a standing arm triangle on him--when he tried to turn I just let him, took his back and....goodnight.) Of course, rarely does nobody jump in in a streetfight, so in that case you're right, you don't want to be on the ground when you might have people jumping in.
