I agree, taking something bad and producing something good is never a bad thing. If we can phase out the need for plants that have CO2 emissions that would be the best case scenario. Being realistic and knowing that change takes time, these bacteria could help to avert a major crisis.
The biggest battle in my eyes is stopping people from taking the wrong path. Ethanol is insane and is purely driven by politics and propaganda. I quote a sherdog poster when I say a "windmill on every rooftop". The issue is changing the perception. In my neighbourhood windmills are illegal to have because they are eye-sores. If windmills were legal and a mass produced item, we could cut energy consumption substantially.
