Assuming your maintenance calories are ~2800, and you took in 12000 calories for the day, you just put on three pounds of fat. Unless you are starving yourself the other 6 days of the week (or training like mad), your going to end up gaining weight.
Rule of Thumb: Only eat poorly when there are no healthy alternatives available. The only time it is acceptable to eat junk food is when the alternative is going with nothing.

Actually i have about 8% bodyfat and i need around 3500 calories to maintain my weigt as i train mma 6 days a week. When dieting i usually eat about 1600 calories and have lost about 7lbs a week when typically dieting. I know the supposed science about fat gain and loss, with the "lose 1-2lbs a week" bs, cus i think a lot is down to genetics. i can lose and gain weight very fast and tend to preserve muscle mass regardless of what i eat.
