It depends on how you define "provides for" here.
If you mean if he gives $$ to the mother so she can provide the child with a home, clothes, food, toys, etc... and that makes him a "good father" I would disagree with you.
IMO you cannot be a "good father" if you are absent. You have to be involved on a day to day basis. Just giving money does not make someone a good father. __________________
