Poor thing. Most chameleons suffer in captivity and are sick from stress related illnesses. You should make sure he is kept in as large of a cage as possible. Also, chameleons shouldn't be handled unless necessary. It causes them too much stress. They don't make good pets. For the most part, you shouldn't ever touch them. Chameleons should just sit in their cage and be looked at.

I had one a few years ago, but it died from a "failure to acclimate." That seems to be the fate of a lot of chameleons. They just don't do well in captivity. I would never buy one again. It's not fair to them. If you want a lizard, I hear iguanas are more people friendly.
