Muay thai is thousands of years old. It was originally a field combat art (the older styles still have sword work in them). If you got disarmed during battle a non armed combat system evolved. Many stories of great thai warriors who were well versed in unarmed combat. Theres one fable about a prince or some kind of heritage being captured in burma, fighting and koing their best 10 fighters and then the king of burma was going to execute him because he beat so many on the trot, but the crowd protested because they were so in awe of his skill, so he was set free to return to thailand. He later became king.

Skinny guys with oversized puffs on their hands and feet punching at, and kicking at, each other, flailing really. The big gloves with the white circles on them. You could hide Big Bertha behind those gloves, and her Cadillac.
