Lyoto Machida's and Anderson Silva's Stand Up Techique
They both are brazilians, they trained and still train together at the same camp. (known as former BlackHouse, new name to be announced soon: same team, just different name and location) <- edit
Both have Black Belts on brazilian jiu jitsu.
Both are well rounded in the other areas. (It sounds generic, but thats the idea, they are well rounded)
Lyoto has a Karate background with Karate specialization, some experience with Sumo as well.
Anderson Silva has a TaeKwonDo background early on with MuayThai specialization.
You can see their stances from Karate (Lyoto) and Tae Kwon Do (Anderson). Yeah, Anderson trains Muay Thai, but his stance is very different from the MuayThai stance (examples, Ernesto Hoost or Buakaw) for instance. Not a big deal, just a curiosity.
They are both fast and technically accurate.
Lyoto Machida has a lightning fast punch that strikes suddenly before an enemy attack. Being the left straight very accurate, fast and with enough power to stun and its throw always when the opponents is telegraphing some attack within reach.
He also has a lightning fast kicks without base foot rotation that carent telegraphed as well. Both of his trademarks.
Lyoto tends to counter attack and wait for the enemy initiative, but always strikes first.
Anderson Silva is more aggressive, hunts the opponent. Throw combinations that cant be evaded or avoided. They are fast, accurate, and he doesnt stop attacking once he gets a hit. He goes for the kill.
Specialist in the MuayThai clinch. Once he locks it, the enemy gets critical hits one after the other. He has a wide range of attacks, from straigh kicks, to knee jumps, to rising elbows. We didnt saw all he has yet.
With the upcomming UFC 84, Lyoto Machida will face Tito Ortiz. Some people doesnt seem to have an idea of how dangerous Lyoto Machida is. Maybe, comparing Lyoto Machida and Anderson Silva stand up, might clear peoples blur vision. If that doesnt help, time will prove me right.
Please, compare the striking/stand up technique from Lyoto And Anderson Silva using your own words. Dont mind quoting me. Think for yourself.
