And the question of succesion boils down to one question. Are the American people beholden to the government or is the government beholden to the people? If the government is no longer in the best interest of its people is it not the peoples right to establish a new government?
I am a little confused by you post. Are you defending the Southern States attempt to secede by saying that the government wasnt in their best interest. Or is that a hypothetical to GOMT question of wheter slavery would still be around if the south won. Like in we could just try to fight the government over it, since it wouldnt be in the peoples best interest.
