IMO, you can't deny, that in terms of sheer athleticism, the US have the best athlets overall. We need only look at the NBA/NFL players and the # of medals the US consistently takes home.

For some reason the US just doesn't like kicking lol.
Having a population of 300+ million to draw from sure helps us. I'm sure the ratio of athletic individuals to slobs is the same in Holland as compared to the U.S. They just have 5% of our population in numbers to draw on.

In addition, compared to most other countries, we have more money per capita. More money means better facilities and more opportunity to let the more athletic coast along competing rather than needing to work to survive. Thus more focus on enhancing their bodies and skill levels.

As far as Dutch domination.. Well, it's gotta be based on popularity. In the U.S., Muay Thai is not popular at all. MMA is on the rise, but it's only dragging Muay Thai up in popularity in a small percentage of the demographic that's into MMA. Muay Thai skills are more popular than actual Muay Thai fights or fighters, if you can understand my meaning.

Most athletes are in for a bit of glory. There's glory here in Football, Basketball, Baseball, Track, etc.. Not Mauy Thai. In Holland, Muay Thai fighters are known and respected and some of them revered.
