Ok, as you wish let Andy Hug be Kyokushin. Big diffrence.
Semmy Schilt is still kickboxer. Why is he karate fighter? Maybe he practices kata for hours or smth? Maybe he uses karate stances? Maybe he blocks punches in karate style? Oh maybe he does kumite without gloves and punching to the head? WTF are you talking about? His technique is a typical kickboxing style. He can say whatever he wants but it doesn't change the fact that he fights like a pure kickboxer. And use standart MT knee strikes. I have watched lots of kyokushin videos and I can say now karate knee strikes are performed in diffrent manner. An they do them quite rarely. Schilt does them very often like thai boxer.
Even if Semmy is a karate fighter (but he is NOT) the situation is still the same. 4 champions - karate, 12 champions - Muay thai. So MT is more effective.
And 3 times "karate fighter'' Semmy won only because of his unusual height. All muay thai K-1 champions have standart proportions for their weight. More questions?
Look, folks, I don't want to say that karate is bad or smth. I respect karate like any other martial art. But it has lots of unpractical stuff that is useless in real fight.
