K1 needs to bring in someone new
Most K1 followers probably agree that Semmy Schilt is an unwelcome champion of the sport, even if he has decent skill for his size.
I think Schilt is bad for the sport in general because it seems like he K1 management is so concerned with finding a way to beat him, that they dont bring in new talent.
Rather they hold on to their old warriors Aerts, Lebanner, Hunt and now Ignashov hoping that one of the can get a lucky win. They even brought in the other dutch giant. Guess what? Theyre not going to beat him, all of them had their chance, come on has Ignashov even fought for how long?
Theyve tried changing the rules, disallowing clinch and knees, which in general made sport less exciting.
Instead what were left with is a band of old fighters who were once great, but are now as big as they are slow.
K1 needs to get over themselves, and start bringing in fresh talent, fighters who has something to prove, who doesnt neccesarily have familys with kids to think about.
If Schilt is going to be beaten its going to be by an up and comer, someone who will come with heart and some naivety.
Right now i only see Badr Hari, MAYBE, being able to get a win if he bulks up and toughens up. But there has to be more guys like him out there.
I refuse to believe that Lebanner, Aerts, Ray Sefo and so on, are still the top of the list.
Bring in the new generation!
