In that example, you are right. The wolf and dog are more closely related than either to the sheep. Which is why a sheep hates the dog, but needs him to survive.

But another problem is that even a "sheep" or a non violent non criminal person can be driven to violence and to defend himself if necessary. This is why everyone didn't kill each other off before modern society. People aren't so defenseless as you make them sound.
