I'm not a fighter. But I think it's about money and/or love of the sport. If you love it, but just don't have the dedication to put in the cardio time, well good luck getting your ass kicked. If you make money though, like Tank or Sapp, then that factors into your decision.
Amateur fights her in Portland under the FCFF org are 3 x 3 minute rounds. So are less cardio intensive.
