No way, I doubt it. I'm a Toronto MMA fan, but the Ontario Athletics Commissioner, Ken Hayashi, is VERY strict about it. The guy is acting so conservative on this issue.

No matter how much money Quebec or surrounding states and provinces make off of UFC's rising mainstream popularity, Hayashi will NOT legalize MMA in Ontario until there is a strong amateur level organization running MMA in Ontario. And then after many years of successful trials and tests, then he'll legalize it.

In other words, don't expect to see MMA in Ontario until at least 2020.

Don't worry, I'm just as pissed as you.

The best way to get Ontario MMA legalized is to try to get an amateur level organization and regulating body set up as quickly as possible. Luckily we have the OMMAA trying to do that. That's one way. The other way is to change federal law dealing with combat sports, because the law is several decades (if not a century or more) old. But seeing the economic problems and other political issues in Canada, I doubt MMA law changes would be important on any politician's mind right now.

LEGALIZE MMA IN ONTARIO!! Imagine having an MMA event at the ACC? I'm confident to say that you can probably even fill up the Rogers Centre (...Skydome) if GSP were headlining a PPV there. Literally, you'd be able to fit 66,000 rabid fans in there and charge them grossly marked up ticket prices too

Oh well...only a dream for now
