There difference is a KO is called when a fighter is unconscious and a TKO is called when a fighter is still conscious, but no longer intelligently defending themselves.

There have been a few TKOs that should have been ruled KOs(such as Jardine vs Alexander) and some KOs that should have been ruled TKOs(such as Shogun vs Rampage), but whatever...no big deal.
