Page was defenseless because he was trying to use dirty boxing that wasn't designed to defend against a Thai clinch. Did you not read the part where I said what he did was technical suicide? It's BASIC DEFENSE, yet it wasn't displayed in those fights.
As for the 2nd Silva fight, I remember that Anderson NEVER got the double plum on Franklin that bout. What he did though is land a couple of side knees from a single or side tie up, and own Rich with an array of precise kicks and punches.
My point standing: there are basic counters to the thai clinch, and those fighters didn't use them.
