when i spar, this is one of my most effecitve techniques i use.

what it is, is basically your forarms are on the neck/colar bone of your opponent. the grip is fairly important, as proper MT grip enables you to control your opponents position with the movement of your hand.

to attain the proper grip, hold your hand our, palm facing you, then take your other hand, and wrap it around the wrist of the hand(palm) facing you. the grip needs to be a thumbless grip.

since your palm hand is open, you can roll it inside or out, to swicth to your other hand showing its palm, and the other hand gripping. this helps move your oponnent from side to side to enable maximum leverage and power with knees.

another grip that can be used effectivley is to just cross your fingers. but this doesnt help you with your side to side movement to allow knees from the side as good as the other grip.

to get out of it...

posture up, meaning you need to have your hips infront of your head. then if you want to strike, punch to the head, elbow to the head, if in a street fight, eye gouge(sp?), head but etc.

also you can throw your hand over top of their clinch to break their hold but this allows their knees to work more effectivley as you are now stretching out your ab muscles.
