+1 on that- I worked in a warehouse during HS and as far as I know I'm not a refugee and neither were any of my co-workers. Drunks and stoners maybe, but not refugees. I also found out that you should be careful around delivery truck drivers since a lot of companies work under the assumption that they will get into a certain number of minor accidents per month, which means they don't really care if they hit your bumper.
Also +2 on the fish production being nasty. You really don't want to know what goes into the fish sticks you are eating (pollock that's been sitting around in a mix of its own blood and filth and seawater for at least 24 hours). No really interesting secrets from my current line of work aside from the fact that most government science is sketchy at best. Also for all you SF bay area people Fisherman's wharf is actually still a functional commercial fishing dock- all the offloading happens at pier 45 (right near Scoma's) and generally happens early in the morning.
