When you buy Topsoil for around $18-$25 a yard, if the supplier has their own screener, their cost is around $2.50 a yard. If they don't have their own screener, their cost is around $7.00 a yard.
With driveway gravel or any type of gravel, buy it directly from the gravel pit and skip going to the local supply company. Your neighborhood landscaping company usually sells materials by the yard and so on. Most of the time, you are not getting what you pay for, as most loader operators are instructed to shake down the buckets or learn other shady ways to load people.
By going directly to the pit, you are buying it by weight and at a much cheaper price.
