It does not sound very plausible to me that the cable company installs 100$ _wireless_ cameras (which is what VC-22PW appears to be) inside a cable box to collect info that's not only useless to them, but will cause a lot of trouble if anybody finds out about that (and considering that toughtsone knows about it, it is not that secret).
Sure, they can track what you watch and for how long; what you order on PPV, and stuff like that. This info is useful for them. Video of you (provided that your cable box is facing your couch), on the other hand does not have any value.
I can believe that some crooks can do that and use that to case your house, but I don't believe that cable company does that. |
I can't say one way or the other if their use is widespread or not, but what I do know is that you could get a ton of data from it and it would be worth every penny. __________________
