personal pros and cons (brief list, not all, feel free to add more):
pros:
- get to know fighters more personally, making the emotional connection stronger.
- nice young raw talent with room to improve.
- possible ringers with no exposure to shine.
cons:
- because of the fan base, it could force UFC to push fights with mediocre fighters. ex. leben and griffin should have never gotten the opportunities to upset martin and shogun.
- takes pressure off the UFC to bring in fighters from other orgs. too many good fighters not getting pulled over to the UFC who want to fight. lawler, diaz, and okami get the cut while TUFers who lost in the show and in UFC fight are on the cards.
After UFN tonight, how many fighters will get fights in the UFC? the "contract" has lost its meaning, ask herman, leben, jardine, cote, and kos, among others, about that contract they were there on the show for. im predicting this season will be the WORST for it. i bet every fighter and maybe more will get UFC fights on upcoming cards next year. and to top it off, they are ALL in the same already crowded division (except mac who will drop to 155.)
is there room for TUF LOSERS in the UFC without establishing themselves in other divisions?
sorry if this is "beating a dead horse" but i havent seen too much, if any, on this in a WHILE.
the future of MMA:
does the winner of rude vs. hightower fight in the UFC? please, save us from this.
that being said, love the show and am mixed on its effects. just wish the contract signing was the way it was planned to be.
