My friend lived on a "lagoon" (read: large open area in canal system) and had a pool deck, which was raised about 3 feet above the dock. The deck ventilated excess water through a system under the wood planks. Its exit was a PVC pipe that emptied on to the dock.
We took the most flammable stuff we could get our mangy, middle-school hands on, poured it in copious amounts, and set it ablaze. We realized it got out of hand when smoke and, a couple minutes later, flames started to rise out from between the spaces in the planks. We managed to put it out before the entire pool deck caught.
We did that like 3 times.
