This could be completly pulled out of my ass but I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Slams are one of my favorite techniques in MMA. When I think of crazy slams I think of the Randleplex, Arona's death, Hughes powerbombing Newton, even that idiot Sapp lifting Nog into the air.

My query is about the give in mats. The more I thought about it, the more I couldn't help but think about how Pride rings seemed to have more give to them than the mats in the octagon. The overall sound of the Pride ring resembled the sound of a wrestling ring, not to compare mma to wrestling, but bear with me. The octagon always kind of had a more solid sound when people were hitting it. Not much sound came from the canvas, giving the impression of less give.

Thinking more about it, i thought about how quickly Fedor and Nog recovered from seemingly devistating slams. Not to say that Fedor isn't a cyborg and Nog isn't a nasty motherfucker, just wanted to see if anyone had any info on this or had ever thought about this subject.
