I can't quite place what it is, but beating a Japanese fighter just doesn't seem that much of a feat to me. Now, I am by no means saying that "all Japanese fighters are Cans" or anything like that, but just a basic feeling that a win over a Japanese fighter just isn't very impressive. From Wanderlais long list of Japanese fighters he beat, to Baroni's wins against a few Japanese fighters like Chonan after being tooled by the UFC mid-level, when I see a fighter beat a Japanese opponent, my first thought is "he beat a Japanese guy, good, but lets see how he does against a decent opponent". Is it just me or is this a more common perception? Maybe it was becasue Japanese Pride FC was dominated by non-Japanese fighters. I have tried to be as PC as possible with this theme, and of course there have been great Japanese fighters like Enson Enoi. But generally they seem pretty unsuccessful in proportion to how many of them enter mma, with the exeptions of a few like Sak and Yoshida.

gomi, sakurai, kid yamamoto.....those names ring a bell. tuf noob gets thrown around alot but you exemplify that term very well.
