From Wanderlais long list of Japanese fighters he beat, to Baroni's wins against a few Japanese fighters like Chonan after being tooled by the UFC mid-level, when I see a fighter beat a Japanese opponent, my first thought is "he beat a Japanese guy, good, but lets see how he does against a decent opponent". Is it just me or is this a more common perception? Maybe it was becasue Japanese Pride FC was dominated by non-Japanese fighters. I have tried to be as PC as possible with this theme, and of course there have been great Japanese fighters like Enson Enoi. But generally they seem pretty unsuccessful in proportion to how many of them enter mma, with the exeptions of a few like Sak and Yoshida.
