Another Source backing Bas Rutten's assessment of Kimbo Slice:
We all know what Bas Rutten said about Kimbo Slice at this link:

But now there is this as well:

Two things:
1) Kimbo has tons of potential and is a superb athlete. And Bas is correct about Kimbo - he is very humble and very easy to work with. He does things the way you want and quickly adds it to his arsenal during sparring sessions.
2) Kimbo is very good to the fans. If he didn't want to pose for pics while watching fights - you can't blame the guy too much. He may not have any MMA fights, but believe me, in Miami he is popular and is constantly posing for pics and signing autographs. Everytime I took him running, people would hollar from their cars and take pics while he is running. Then in restuarants and stuff, he would constantly entertain people. He treats the fans better than most.
True story... we were in the hospital because one of our fighters got his wrist dislocated blocking one of Kimbo's kicks (yes, the fighter had his hand wrapped and in a boxing glove). Kimbo insisted on coming along to the hospital to make sure the fighter was ok.
At the hospital, in the ER, apparently a guy died from a heart attack. Then a few people come out crying, one guy sees Kimbo, and comes up to him to say hello. He says he is a big fan, etc. He then tells Kimbo his dad just died and it would mean a lot to him if he could try to cheer up his sister by saying hello as she comes out...
Yeah, kinda weird Basically, what I'm saying is that don't feel like you are the first guy to approach him and that he should be so grateful. The guy gets approached all the time and sometimes by some strange people with strange requests. I have never seen him reject a fan. If he did, he was probably into the fights, and considering he has his first cage fight coming up in a couple of weeks, he was probably trying to feel the atmosphere and get into it.
Based on what I have seen in the few months we trained Kimbo for this fight, I am very confident Kimbo will win.
Sincerely,
Marcos Avellan
