With reference to the sword... I agree with what ure saying but am also comfortable with using the tip as a barrier between me and someone else. I do agree that swinging it around would just get it stuck in something though lol. I have my Katana next to my bed along with 3 Survival knives, 2 Shuriken and short and long Bokken. My short Bokken is the right length to be swung in a household (Not like a bat though) and would be my number 1 choice as it wouldn't get me put away for killing somone.
