Seriously though I believe that modern high end production cameras were already equipped to shoot hi-def for some time (I want to say around 2003 but definately by '06) so the majority of upscale tv programmers, of which I believe Spike and UFC are, would already have HD cameras because it's insisted by the govt. that all the cable providers have to switch over (the dateline was 06 but I believe they pushed it back for the stragglers). So really it's already being shot in HD but if you don't have an HD tv as well as cable provider such as Dish Network then you just get a normal analog picture .....

I doubt it, the camara's are more expansive. Movies are shot in high def because they have to be shown in a movie theater, thats why we are able to get high def dvd's of movies made 10+ years ago.
